Rocky is home

We picked Rocky up yesterday about 5pm. It took both of us to get him in the house, he weighs 125lbs. The evening went well until it was bed time. Rocky napped until then, then he couldn’t sleep. It was a very long night and morning. Two calls to the vet and I think we have him better medicated. He now on tramadol, gabapentin and a fentanyl patch. I hope we get a little more sleep tonight.

Rocky has amazed me with his strength. Two major surgeries in 3 weeks and he still the loving boy he has always been. He is doing really well getting up and moving. We are using the sling just for balance right now.

Rocky is our 125lbs lab mix. He is a big sweetheart. After limping for 18 months we finally were sent to a neurologist. They found a bulging disc and pinched sciatic nerve. 3 weeks into his recovery he could not stand. MRI showed tumor and fracture femur. On Nov15 his left rear leg was amputated.

  2. Great news, and your pictures are beautiful. You might want to consider a harness for after the staples come out. My Otis loved the Ruffwear Webmaster Plus harness – you can see if in the gear blog.

    1. Definitely will get a harness when his staples are out. Looks like Otis is a big boy. Gives me hope for finding one to fit.
