Sleeping

Rocky had a wonderful night. Slept right thru without the whimpering or whines of the night before.  He woke up happy and had breakfast and back to sleep. I think he is making up for being awake for 24 straight hours. Next task is getting him to poop. He wants to just can’t figure out how. We will see if he is more comfortable trying today. Thank you to everyone who has posted to this blog. The support is wonderful and makes me feel more confident about my choices and the future

Rocky is our 125lbs lab mix. He is a big sweetheart. After limping for 18 months we finally were sent to a neurologist. They found a bulging disc and pinched sciatic nerve. 3 weeks into his recovery he could not stand. MRI showed tumor and fracture femur. On Nov15 his left rear leg was amputated.

  1. Just caught up in the blogs about your handsome Rocky! He is soooo handsome!! I did go back and make a post on his pictures.

Yeah, recovery is no picnic, that’s for sure. Rocky is doing exactly what nphe needs to…rest! The fact that he actually slept well last night is great! My Happy Hannah was very restless and whiny the first three nights and she nor I slept a wink!

The meds and being doped up may delay the pooping for several days, so no worries. Let us know when he does poop though, we celebrate everything around here!

Many dogs don’t eat much for a few days either. Sounds like Rocky isn’t about to miss a meal though!

Stay connected and keep us updated! We care!

    Hugs!

  2. Well done Rocky! Sleeping like a champ. Clever boy. You know what you need to recover and you’ll be hopping around like the rock star you are in no time. Don’t worry about the 💩 That almost always takes a few days because of the meds, anaesthetic etc. Just keep doing what you’re doing. Great job, Mum.
    Sending hugs
